Australia's Largest In Small Numbers

Australia's largest sea turtle, the leatherback, is listed as an endangered species this week due to... well the only criteria it takes to get on the list; diminishing population numbers.
"The uplisting is mainly due to the ongoing threats the turtle faces from unsustainable harvesting of egg and meat and pressures from the commercial fishing outside Australian waters," reports Environment Minister Peter Garrett, the person responsible for putting the turtle on the list.
