A very rare orchid is found sprouting up in unusual places leaving experts to believe that it's evolutionary progress right before our eyes. The orchids, Young's Helleborine, have been found growing on a spoil tip next to an old coal mine. But that's only one example. Actually, Helleborine is found in 10 different areas of the UK and all 10 spots are former industrial places. This evolution in progress could mean that the orchid is adapting to a harsh new environment; which could also mean that other rare plants, who are being destroyed due to changing surroundings, could adapt just as victorious.
