Skin Cells Are the New Stem Cells

With the comprehension beyond my understanding, two groups of scientists were capable of 'reprogramming' skin cells to impersonate embryonic stem cells.
Because stem cells are capable of becoming any tissue in the body, this gigantic step forward secures a new source of cells for use in research for many diseases.
As you may know, stem cell research is highly controversial because it was obtained from human fetus'. Now science is no longer dependant on using those such cells.
"The induced cells do all the things embryonic stem cells do - its going to completely change the field," Professor James Thomson, University of Wisconsin-Madison. Source.
