Energy hogging light bulbs are going to be banned from Ireland this coming year.
"Ultimately, it will lead to savings of more than 180 million euros (263 million dollars) a year for Irish consumers and reduce emissions in Ireland by 800,000 tonnes, or one percent of its total," environment minister John Gormley, who leads Ireland's Green Party, said in a statement on Thursday.
Ireland plans on making the switch permanently and will become the first country to do so. And in doing so, will become the first country to show the rest of the world how-to. This news comes after new research from GreenPeace found Ireland homes to use more energy per household then any other country in Europe. Source.

Turns Out Dory Wouldn't Have Made It Through
Billions of tiny jellyfish, called Mauve Stingers, have flooded Ireland's coastal waters and the invasion has drained the life of the salmon farm, killing more then 100,000 fish.
Salmon rescuers tried to reach the cages but the mass of jellyfish 'made it impossible.'
In 30 years in the business, managing director John Russell said he had never seen anything like this. "The sea was red with these jellyfish and there was nothing we could do about, it, absolutely nothing," he said.
Fish altering their location is usually the result when there is a change in their primary oceanic waters' temperature. That seems to be the likely cause of the jellyfish moving to Ireland since this incident has never happened to Ireland before.
As a result, The Department of Agriculture's fisheries is currently running a full investigation. Source.
