U.S. President George W. Bush said that there is a "real and urgent" need for a missile shield in Europe as a defence against a possible attack by Iran and countries in the Middle East.
Russian President Vladimir Putin says US plans for a missile shield could precipitate a situation similar to the Cuban missile crisis of the 1960s.
The US said there was no comparison "in any way, shape or form" of our present situation to that of the 60s.
The major differences this time around is that both presidents are only discussing the topic of missiles rather then threatening each other with them.. Oh and..
"I agree completely with President Bush when he says that Russia and the US are not enemies anymore... we are partners," states Putin. "I am fully justified in saying that just as he calls me a friend, I can call him a personal friend too."
