University of Florida Assistant Professor Peng Jiang Jiang and his research team is looking into the complex structure of a moths eye to develop more efficient and self-cleaning solar panel cells.
"Nature is an amazing innovator," Jiang well-expresses. "What I'm interested in doing is mimicking the structure of some remarkable biological systems for real-world use."
Biologists believe the involved arrangement of the moths eye prevents them from reflecting the starlight or the moonlight and in doing so makes them less of a target for predators.

Jiang used that same design to create an anti-reflective covering for glass and plastic. He has also added a unique attribute of cicada wings; their ability to rapidly shed water and dirt. Source.
