Wind Energy Finds More Free Power

The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee has developed a new technique to capture extra energy from high winds. Using a step by step method, a wind turbines' rotor will adjust so that when the wind speeds are greater than average the rotor speeds up and will store the excess energy. This energy is then released when the wind power falls below average.
This algorithm method takes advantage of the wind energy more effectively to, in turn, improve the overall efficiency and potenially increase the potential energy from a single farm without having to add more turbines.

Not Getting High..

The construction of one of Europe's largest onshore wind farms has been refused by the Scottish Government today.
The 181 turbines on the Western Isles did not obey with the European law protecting sensitive environments. Scottish ministers decided the project would have a serious impact on the Lewis Peatlands Special Protection Area, protecting birds and onshore habitat.
"Sadly all of this has been lost because of the government decision which, we believe, represents a huge missed opportunity," in a statement for LWP.
The Lewis Wind Power company believes that the turbines will not only bring cheap, reusable energy to the neighboring towns but also a significant amount of jobs. The project was backed by local authorities and business but brought in a report 11,000 objections to the idea.
Energy Minister Jim Mather said the government was committed to helping the renewable energy sector in the Western Isles. "I strongly believe the vast renewables potential needs to be exploited to ensure that the opportunities and benefits of new development can be shared across the country in an equitable fashion." Free Floating Energy

Blue H Technologies, a dutch company, has invented the worlds first floating wind energy turbines; they were demonstrated at a trade show in Berlin.
Just this past Wednesday, Germany approved actions to combat climate change by using renewable energy. The country is hoping to have a clean source of energy to contribute up to 30% of its needs; compared to their current 12%.
This innovative new technology is set to sail off the coast of Puglia in southern Italy.
I believe this new free style form will change the way skeptics view wind energy since the number one complaint is their distracting view, (altho, I think they're beautiful.)
Not having to be anchored to the seabed floor, the wind turbines will be constantly changing their location.
I would love for the Raritan Bay out here to be full of them. Could you imagine if tall wind turbines became part of the NYC view?
